Support Programme The National
Communications Support Programme (NCSP)
was designed to provide additional technical assistance to Non-Annex I Parties in
the preparation of its initial national communications to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The National Communications Support Unit,
based at UNDP in New York,
established an information website, a
newsletter and a help desk, and organised 30 regional exchange and training workshops.
The technical assistance component, managed by
UCCEE, provided technical backstopping and support to countries
requiring assistance.
The programme was implemented jointly by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), in
collaboration with the UNFCCC Secretariat. Funding
was provided by the Global Environment Facility (GEF),
the European Union, and the Governments of Denmark, Norway and Finland.
