The aim of NESTLAC was to disseminate, promote
and facilitate the implementation of Environmentally Sustainable Transport
(EST) options in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Network promoted the switch from private cars to public and non-motorised
transport, leading thereby to reductions of both local and global emissions
from the sector. NESTLAC served as the mechanism through which all the
necessary activities to disseminate, promote and facilitate the
implementation of EST options were carried out.
NESTLAC was funded by the
Global Environment Facility (GEF),
the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
and URC.
The guidelines produced by NESTLAC are available
for download in PDF format.
