Local and Innovative
Financing
for Renewable Energy in the PhilippinesThe project
targeted the ambitious renewable energy (RE) programme of the Philippines.
The country benefited from exchanging experiences within the ASEAN region,
especially with Thailand, and with the European Union.
The project designed innovative financing
instruments and a strategy integrating RE lending in the policies of local
private and government banks. A distinction was made between on-grid and
off-grid RE because of their diverse financing requirements and business
models.
The project was co-financed by the EC-ASEAN
Energy Facility, and implemented by International Resources Group
Philippines, Risoe National Laboratory (Denmark), Energy Economy Environment
Consultants Co. Ltd (Thailand), and IT Power (UK).
